Clinical pharmacy services are aligned with the Alfred Health clinical program structure. Clinical pharmacists are attached to medical units and work alongside medical, nursing and allied health teams to achieve the best medication outcomes for patients. Each team of clinical pharmacists is supported by a Senior Clinical Pharmacist with specialist expertise. The Senior Clinical Pharmacist – Melbourne Sexual Health is responsible for the coordination and management of the dispensing and clinical pharmacy services to the Infections Diseases Directorate at the Melbourne Sexual Health clinic (MSHC). In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day supervision and development of a busy team of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians at MSHC. Working within the multi-disciplinary team, you will provide innovative pharmacy services to achieve the best medical outcomes for individual patients. You will also contribute to improving medication management on a larger scale through practice-based research and service improvement work. As Alfred Health is an academic health centre, you will supervise and mentor students as well as intern and rotational pharmacists.
Skills and Experience
- Excellent clinical skills and knowledge with a relevant clinical post-graduate qualification.
- Extensive experience in the provision of clinical pharmacy services, with a focus on infectious diseases
- Experience in HIV and STI management is desirable but not essential
- Excellent leadership qualities
- Good knowledge of dispensary processes and a strong focus on patient care and communication
- A proven ability to manage staff, change and service development
