To provide support to the provision of pharmacy services to inpatient and outpatients.
General duties include medicine distribution; assist in dispensing, sterile manufacturing including preparation of cancer-chemotherapy.
Key responsibilities are:
1. Assist dispensing of prescriptions for inpatients, discharge and outpatients.
2. Assist clinical pharmacists in the provision of ward pharmacy services.
3. Assist aseptic, non-sterile production and aseptic cytotoxic preparation.
4. Repackage pharmaceutical products.
5. Support medicine distribution

Essential Knowledge and skills:
Satisfactory completion of a certificate III or IV in Health (Hospital Pharmacy Technician) course awarded by a registered training organisation or equivalent qualification (as approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia).
Completion of Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or equivalent.
A strong attention to detail.

Ability to work effectively as a team member.
Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks.
Willing to learn new tasks and use initiative.

Desirable but not essential:
Previous hospital pharmacy experience.
Experience with PBS.
Completion of the Peter MacCallum cytotoxic or equivalent training course.
The Pharmacy Department provides comprehensive high quality pharmaceutical care to Austin Health patients and supports other members of the healthcare team in all aspects of medicines management. The Department consists of about 100 full time equivalent staff over 3 campuses within Austin Health. The team consists of pharmacists and technical and support personnel who work together to ensure patients receive the highest quality pharmaceutical care possible. We aim for quality use of medicines by providing clinically focussed services and giving patient safety the highest priority.
The Pharmacy Department has representatives on all Committees from Medication Management perspective. This includes Medication Management Committee, Drugs and Therapeutics Committee, Adverse Drug Reaction Committee, Cytotoxic Safety Committee, Cerner Medication Module Governance Committee, Drugs Trials Sub-Committee and Nursing Medication Administration Working Party.
Clinical pharmacy services to all inpatients, outpatients and other clinical areas including the Emergency Department and Operating Suite
Ambulatory pharmacy services
Manufacturing of sterile preparations, intravenous admixtures and non-sterile production (including repackaging).
Cytotoxic reconstitution and compounding
