Position Title   Pharmacist (Rotational)

 Remuneration/Salary Rates (may include superannuation and annual leave loading) (Grade) (Additional Information)  $70 958 - $104 295 per annum

  • Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in hospital and community based services. This includes an understanding of all forms of pharmaceutical care according to the principles of evidence-based practice, as well as knowledge of acts, regulations and standards.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills including consultation, negotiation and the ability to appropriately address conflict. This includes consultation and liaison with consumers, key stakeholders, health professionals, clients and community members.
  • Understanding and commitment to Queensland Health’s core values.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with, provide leadership to a multi-disciplinary team and implement the APAC guidelines in a team environment, so as to provide quality services, support research activity and promote a model of best practice for the benefit of patients and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage staff in line with quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.


Clinical Practice

  • Deliver clinical pharmacy services in accordance with CHHHS values as outlines above
  • As experience builds, apply increasingly independent clinical judgement to more complex clinical decision making under the clinical practice supervision or professional guidance of a more senior clinician.
  • Provide input in the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the work area.
  • Participate in vaccination programs as required.
  • Participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve patient / client care.
  • Involvement in service provision to patients as part of the pharmacy department after hours and weekend services as operationally required.

Communication / Team Participation

  • Actively participate in the multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively within the team and with patients / clients.
  • Liaise with patients and their families, other health professionals, supervisors, students and researchers, as required to ensure continuum of care.

Leadership / Work Unit Management

  • Participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of pharmacy services within the local service area.
  • Provide clinical education pertaining to routine tasks for interns, students and less experienced staff with the support of senior clinical staff.
  • Provide direction to assistant and support staff.
  • Provide clinical practice and operational supervision to work experience students, or those involved in observational clinical placements.
