Intern Coordinator (12 months) and Clinical Pharmacy Educator (ongoing)

The Monash Health Pharmacy Department is seeking outstanding Pharmacists to support their colleagues in developing and consolidating their clinical pharmacy skills within the supported environment of the Monash Health network.

  • Interested in providing education and training to interns and your colleagues? Progress your pharmacy career in education with a role as an Intern Coordinator for 12 months and continue supporting the pharmacy workforce as a clinical educator in an ongoing role at Monash Health
  • Grade 3 Pharmacist – Pharmacist Award Classification SX6-SX81 for the 12 month Intern Coordinator role
  • Grade 2 Pharmacist – Pharmacist Award Classification SX2-SX5 for ongoing clinical educator role unless Grade 3 or Grade 4 can be demonstrated through a portfolio submission and review either on employment or in the first 12 months
  • 1 EFT available
  • Work across all Monash Health sites to support interns and clinical pharmacy teams

About the role

An exciting opportunity exists at Monash Health for a pharmacist to join our Education Services team to coordinate the Intern program in the first 12 months and then to provide clinical support for our clinical pharmacy teams across the network.

All members of the Pharmacy Education Services team are enthusiastic and motivated pharmacists with >3 years clinical pharmacy experience, who work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the Monash Health Pharmacy provides a high quality, efficient and patient focussed service and support orientation and continued development of the clinical pharmacy workforce.

The key purpose of this role is to:

  • Provide ‘at the elbow’ educational and training support for all aspects of clinical pharmacy services workflows focussing in the first 12 months on developing the Intern Pharmacists’ performance outcomes required for registration as a pharmacist.
  • Work effectively in a pharmacy team providing pharmacy services in a variety of areas and providing medicine and medicine advice safely and professionally to a variety of stakeholders.

Working closely with the interns and Team Leaders, you’ll be recognised as a well-rounded educator and will engage in training and developing team members in both Pharmacy and other disciplines.  You’ll also lead quality improvement initiatives and will have the opportunity to engage with Pharmacy professional groups outside Monash Health.

Your performance will be assessed with reference to a number of key result areas, including:

  • Supporting the oversight and training of intern pharmacists through their intern year
  • Supporting the training of individuals within clinical pharmacy teams
  • Supporting operations and clinical pharmacy services Team Leaders/members in providing a consistently safe, high quality, efficient and effective service
  • Providing expertise in medication management to clinical pharmacy teams
  • Participating in research and quality improvement
  • Supporting the Pharmacy Education Services team

About you

You can demonstrate hospital pharmacy and education experience and/or a genuine interest in education. With a willingness to lead by example and to role-model expectations to others, you are also highly professional. Your positive approach is infectious and people enjoy working with you.

You can also demonstrate:

  • Commitment to research, education and professional contribution
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Pharmacist and have Australian working rights

You’ll need to be flexible to work across the Monash Health network so a current Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle will be required.

Relevant postgraduate qualifications, such as Master of Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent, or Advanced Pharmacy Practice Stage 2 or above and leadership experience will be highly regarded.
