Royal Hobart Hospital

Job description:

To be Tasmanian is to value quality over quantity. We create, preserve, and protect the unusual. With quiet confidence, with passion and perseverance, we pursue the extraordinary. Could you be Tasmanian? With multiple vacancies for Pharmacists at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH), our culture and lifestyle may be exactly what you’re looking for…

What’s different about Tasmania is our culture and our lifestyle. You will be encouraged to be yourself, to learn, to grow and to develop meaning in your work. You will have a powerful connection to your patients and your colleagues, and the community will encourage your success. Our isolation helps drive a culture of creation and human connection, which feels both old fashioned and… like the only future worth pursuing.

Here in Tasmania, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to breathtaking coastlines, National Parks or award-winning restaurants or bars. Some people surf in the early mornings and go fly fishing on weekends or take photography classes, write novels, sell preserves at the weekly farmers’ markets, learn to mountain bike. They take part in the community, volunteering and serving on boards. And their spouses and children have similar opportunities to thrive in a quieter, safer, more adventurous place.

After a hard day at work, you can get on your bike or put on your boots and “tell it to the mountain” in minutes, not hours.

It’s not where you were born. It’s who you are, and who you want to be. Be Tasmanian.

Tasmanian | The quiet pursuit of the extraordinary

Make It Tasmania | Move for a great lifestyle

The role of Pharmacist at the RHH

Based in the scenic waterfront area of Hobart, Tasmania, as one of our pharmacists you won’t be boxed into one speciality area, but instead have the opportunity to work as part of a contemporary, evidence-informed practise that sees our pharmacists closely linked to the broader multidisciplinary team.

At the Royal Hobart Hospital, you’ll participate in clinical and specialist pharmacy services, as well as the manufacturing of products, outpatient dispensing and therapeutic drug monitoring, on-site doses of chemotherapy, involvement in local national and international clinical trials and specialist support services including the telehealth-based Remote Clinical Pharmacy service.

Our research program is highly developed, with many of the team presenting each year at the Society of Hospital Pharmacists National Conference.

You’ll work with a mix of passionate locals and new Tasmanian adventurers who will welcome your energy and experiences into the group dynamic. We actively promote improved medication safety and equity of access to pharmacy services, both of which are so crucial to improving the lives of the people in the diverse and inclusive communities where we live and work.

We want enthusiastic candidates who want to make an impact and have a strong work ethic that includes the ability to:

  • Create and foster an attitude of positivity and teamwork.
  • Coach others when needed in a supportive fashion.
  • Collaborate with a broad range of peers and colleagues.
  • Be adaptable and flexible.

Benefits and Salary

$72,025 - $102,493 per annum + 10% superannuation + access to salary packaging including:

  • Negotiable relocation assistance for successful interstate applicants
  • Flexible working hours to enable work/life balance
  • Salary packaging
  • Support for ongoing professional development including post graduate qualification salary advancement (where applicable)
  • Diverse career pathways including opportunities for secondment into higher duties and access to higher duties allowance
  • Other employment conditions and allowances available under the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

About the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH)

The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital in Tasmania and the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine.
