Salary Range: $121,747 – $131,067 (Plus Super)

About the role
The CPHB Pharmacy Department is growing and our mission is to build and maintain a strong, innovative and inclusive team who collaborate to provide optimal medication management. We have recently developed a three-five year roadmap which seeks to strengthen our two department foundations, namely Our People and Culture and Our Technology and Systems, with the aim to extend our four Department Pillars; Optimising Operations, Advancing Scope of our Technicians, Expanding Clinical Services and strengthen the Quality and Safe use of Medicines and Research. We are looking for an experienced and motivated pharmacist to join and lead our friendly and supportive team on this journey. With over 40 staff members, it is an exciting time for our department and hospital, as we implement a Territory-wide digital health record, while also expanding our clinical pharmacy services in areas such as Maternity, Pre-admission, Perioperative and Pain (including opioid stewardship), and Emergency Medicine (including Partnered Pharmacist Medication Charting).
Reporting to the Executive Director – Medical Services, the department provides clinical pharmacy services to various specialty areas including critical care, emergency care, coronary care, stroke/neurology, general medical, general surgical, palliative care, hospital in the home and mental health, as well as dispensary and sterile and non-sterile manufacturing services. Our strong pharmacist-to-patient ratio means we are able to provide comprehensive high-quality care for our patients, but also ensures that our pharmacists are well supported in their day-to-day clinical duties. Other Pharmacy services include, quality improvement projects, medication safety initiatives, an Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) program, SHPA Accredited Pharmacy Residency Program, Intern Training Program, clinical trials, as well as teaching, training and assessment, including input into the junior medical officer and medical student training programs. Our pharmacists are viewed as integral members of the multidisciplinary team and are highly respected throughout the hospital and the territory.
The Lead Pharmacist – Operations is required to oversee and manage the day to day operational (pharmacy practice) aspects of the CPHB Pharmacy Department service including dispensing, drug distribution, compounding and services to the Zita Mary Clinic (ZMC) day therapy unit. This includes management of staff rosters, staff deployment and leave requirements in conjunction with the DoP and management of the Pharmacy Technician team. This Lead Pharmacist position requires a significant knowledge of and experience in hospital pharmacy practice, including management experience and leadership skills.
What you bring
- Registration as a pharmacist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Hospital pharmacy experience in an Australian public hospital of at least 5 years
- Postgraduate qualifications relevant to the position (desirable)
