About the role:
This is an amazing opportunity for a pharmacy leader to join our team as Director of Pharmacy. Lead a skilled pharmaceutical workforce who provide effective, efficient and safe delivery of Pharmacy services at SVHNS. The skill set is diverse, including clinical trials pharmacists, antimicrobial stewardship, procurement and quality use of medicines. As a result of our centres of excellence we have specific expertise in transplant medications, immunologic medications and anti virals.
Operationally, this position involves maintaining a high level of clinical supervision, recruitment, regulatory oversight and strategic direction for the Network. You must be a registered pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia with no restrictions on your scope of practice and have a clear vision to deliver innovative pharmacy services to meet the needs of an evolving healthcare system.

Passionate about provide leadership, management and direction for the Pharmacy Department in alignment with the SVH strategic plan reflective of the Mission and Values of SVHA.
Able to manage the effective, efficient and safe delivery of Pharmacy services at SVHNS.
Determined about ensuring accurate and timely supply of pharmaceuticals, including clinical trial medications to patients of SVHNS.
Prepared to oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to medications.
Willing to contribute to SVHNS Drug and Therapeutics Committee activities and provide the Committee with information on drug usage as required.
Actively ready to participate in Quality use of Medicines and Medication Safety strategies, including Standards 3 and 4.
Confident to oversee the procurement of all pharmaceutical products in line with the NSW State Contract, SVHA policies and procedures and SVHN Drug Committee recommendations.
Able to ensure staffing resources are efficiently and effectively allocated by specific recruitment, induction, monitoring, training and staff development.
Capable to develop, monitor and review the Pharmacy budget to meet agreed targets.
Eager to perform other duties as reasonable directed by the Executive Director of Allied Health.

Pharmacist registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia with no restrictions on scope of practice. Preferred Master’s degree in pharmacy administration, healthcare administration, business or other relevant subject area.
Proven high level management experience in an acute hospital pharmacy, including demonstrated ability to effectively manage financial, physical and human resources in accordance with State and National legal requirements and recognised professional standards.
A strong understanding of pharmacoeconomics, cost effectiveness, budget management and the principles of procurement and contracting of drug acquisition and supply in a public healthcare setting.
Effective communication skills both in written and verbal presentation with a communication style that is open and fosters trust, credibility and understanding. Ability to collaborate with management and employees at all levels within the organization.
Demonstrated experience with Drug and Therapeutics Committees, medication safety initiatives, quality use of medicines and quality improvement activities.
