We have an exciting opportunity for a professional and passionate pharmacist to join our Clinical Services team in a full-time, permanent position as Clinical Lead Pharmacist, to train and develop staff in order to deliver a consistently high level of clinical pharmacy service to all patients of Mater Health.

What you'll be doing
You will be working closely with all clinical pharmacists and technicians in our team by providing professional and clinical practice supervision, support and ongoing development to ensure the safe and effective use of medications within Mater Health.
The role is primarily based at our South Brisbane campus but also supports staff providing a clinical pharmacy service at Mater Private Hospital Springfield and Mater Private Hospital Redland. Across all settings, you will develop and oversee clinical education, staff training and orientation, competency assessments and mentoring to actively encourage the growth and development of pharmacists and technicians to improve service delivery and patient care. You will have the opportunity to work with staff operating in a range of clinical specialties including haematology, oncology, neurosciences, adolescent health, rehabilitation, obstetrics and gynaecology among others.
As well as collaborating with the Team Leaders for these areas, you will have the opportunity to engage with all other Mater Pharmacy teams including Clinical Trials, Medicines Information, Academic Practice, Community and Aged Care Services and the on-site Production Unit. You will work with the Assistant Director of Pharmacy and Head of Medication Safety to uphold the systems, practices and processes that contribute to medication safety and support initiatives to improve safety for all patients and practitioners. You will also assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of medication-related and clinical pharmacy programs and policies in all areas of Mater Health.
This is an ideal position for a senior clinical pharmacist with broad experience who is committed to sharing their skills and experience with others.
Mater Pharmacy is dedicated to the exceptional care and service of all our patients and customers. We provide a comprehensive pharmacy service and strive to maintain the highest level of professionalism in all our services. In addition to clinical pharmacy services, we provide traditional community pharmacy medicines and retail products to patients, visitors and staff as well as operate a Medicines Information service and on-site sterile manufacturing facility.
Salary range: $117,000 – $125,000 per annum plus superannuation
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Bachelor of Pharmacy
- APHRA registration to practice as a Pharmacist (without restrictions)
- Previous experience within a clinical pharmacy setting with prior demonstrated experience in ward-based clinical pharmacy services
- Previous experience with staff training, competency assessments and development of education and training programs will be highly regarded
- Completion of SHPA ClinCAT™ evaluator training (or similar) will be highly regarded
- The ability to work at all Mater Hospital locations including South Brisbane, Redland and Springfield
The successful candidate will also demonstrate a professional attitude, effective communication skills and a high level of attention to detail
