The Senior Pharmacist – Clinical Pharmacy is the most senior member of the clinical pharmacy team at the Launceston General Hospital and provides leadership and supervision to all pharmacists and pharmacy staff in relation to clinical activities.
The Senior Pharmacist – Clinical Pharmacy has a range of direct reports, including Team Leader – Clinical Pharmacy, Specialist Pharmacist positions including but not limited to Emergency Medicine, Paediatrics, Acute Medical Unit and Rehabilitation.
The successful applicant will manage the provision of a safe and efficient clinical pharmacy service to inpatients of the Launceston General Hospital by coordinating the provision of clinical pharmacy services to hospital patients in line with relevant stands, such as the SHPA Standard of Practice for Clinical Pharmacy.
The successful applicant will supervise team members and provide leadership and performance management by working with the Team Leader, Clinical Pharmacy to set a consistent expectation of performance across the team.
This position forms part of the Launceston General Hospital Pharmacy management team.

The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is a 350 bed hospital in Tasmania’s northern population centre of Launceston. Launceston is one of Australia’s oldest cities, with a population of approximately 80,000. The LGH provides hospital services to patients in the State’s north, and is a referral centre for patients in the north west. Strong relationships exist with the Royal Hobart Hospital in the State’s south, and the University of Tasmania, including the School of Pharmacy and Rural Clinical school.

The LGH Pharmacy Department forms part of the Statewide Hospital Pharmacy Operations Unit. The LGH Pharmacy Department employs around 40 pharmacists and support staff. The Department provides clinical pharmacy services to a number of wards of the hospital (including ICU, paediatrics, oncology, rehabilitation, emergency medicine, acute medicine, general medical and surgical wards).
It also provides a number of other services including the manufacturing of aseptic and non aseptic products, chemotherapy preparation, clinical trials, outpatient dispensing, therapeutic drug monitoring and educational in-services.
The Department has strong links with the Pharmacy School at the University of Tasmania, with regular student rotations. The Department also prides itself on providing an excellent intern training program.
