About the Role:
An exciting leadership opportunity has become available at Icon Pharmacy in Townsville, Queensland. This position presents a unique opportunity for an oncology Pharmacist to expand and develop their clinical and organisational skills, as well as assist in the implementation and maintenance of innovative pharmacy services.
In this role, you will lead a small and dynamic team of oncology pharmacists and technicians in the provision of exceptional, specialised oncology pharmacy services in Townsville. The role is diverse, and will allow you to build expertise in working within a multidisciplinary team, small project management, and development of clinical and operational policies and procedures to uphold our patient centred focus and business sustainability.

Provide comprehensive pharmacy services to patients, families and staff. This includes: dispensing, drug requisitions, medication reconciliation, drug information, counselling and the provision of pharmaceutical recommendations, which promote the quality use of medicines and optimise pharmaceutical care.
Undertake high level Pharmacy duties including leading the team, in relation to cancer with limited need for direct clinical practice supervision, to include duties related to cancer clinical trial patients.
Provide high level input to the development of clinical practices, implementation, monitoring and review of procedures and protocols.
Communication and team participation
Actively promote and demonstrate a high level of communication and customer service
Communicate effectively with the fellow managers and colleagues in order to solve problems, review procedures and processes to ensure improvements in service delivery.
Development and Continuous learning
Develop and maintain expertise in the cancer cancer through attendance at conferences, seminars and active learning within team training sessions and competency assessments and/or by participation in post-graduate training programs.
Organise and participate in the delivery of structured education programs for pharmacists, nurses and other Icon team members.
Supervise and train pharmacy students, intern pharmacists and less experienced pharmacists
Leadership/Service and Financial improvement
Contribute to the financial management of the business unit ensuring that services are provided within achievable qualitative and quantitative benchmarks by assisting with daily operational matters.
Promote cost effective use of medicines through dispensing and supply with minimal wastage, inventory management through Stocktake and inventory reporting through the collection and analysis of data.
- A Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (or equivalent)
- Current registration or membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Pharmacy Board of Australia)
- Previous experience in a team leader or management role would be highly regarded.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
